About

Welcome to our blog!

In February 2014, we set off from Australia with the aim of travelling half way across the world to the UK without using an airplane! This blog is a chronicle of our crazy 17 month overland adventure, through 22 different countries, using boats, trains, buses, camels, bikes and everything in between!

We are two Brits, Ryan (Northern Irish) and Ella (English), who moved to Australia not long after University, and after a few years of working, living, and exploring “down under” decided to pack a rucksack, sell everything else, and head of on an epic adventure! We kept this blog to share our adventures and stories with friends, family and anyone else who wanted to check in. It also served the purpose of being a cracking travel diary for us, and put us in touch with many other travellers across the world.

So please enjoy our ramblings and photos, check out the maps to see our routes, and get in touch through the contact page if you want to know anything about our trip. We would love to help!

  1. Hello Ryan and Ella! I’ve decided to read and follow 10 interesting and new blogs a day every day of May 2015, and yours is today’s #9! Feel free to come visit me when you can at http://www.thatssojacob.wordpress.com, and follow if you like what you read. Happy blogging!

  2. What an amazing challenge. I think what are you doing is so cool.

    • Thanks Carly, its been one hell of a year and a bit for sure!! Maybe you cold do the same for your next adventure after the one your on??

      • You know it’s always been my dream to get a cool van and drive from where I live in Newcastle, NSW up through Australia, put in on a boat at Darwin and drive though Asia. When I was in Bulgaria I was shocked to see a car with Western Australia number plates, but I got talking to the guys that owned it and they had road-tripped all that way WA to Bulgaria! Maybe my next trip.

  3. Wow I’m glad I found your blog. This sounds awesome, I’m looking forward to reading your travel adventures.
